Francesco Ferreri aka Chekos’art
English version:
Francesco Ferreri, better known as Chekos’art, is a leading figure in contemporary urban art and one of the pioneers of the stencil technique. Originating from Milan’s graffiti underground, he has developed a unique visual language that illuminates the streets of Italy and the world. Through his murals, Chekos’art tells stories of social contrasts and collective memory, weaving emotions and faces into works that dialogue with communities and new generations. From Xiamen in China to Tirana in Albania, his creations transform urban spaces into veritable open-air galleries, enriched with pop references, homages to the great masters of the past and universal messages.
Co-founder of 167B Street, an urban art workshop located in the heart of Lecce’s working-class 167 district, Chekos’art has helped transform this suburb into a creative epicentre. Thanks to this space, hidden stories emerge through artistic interventions that reinvent the urban landscape, making the area a constantly evolving laboratory.
Over the years, Chekos’art has participated in numerous international urban art festivals and distinguished itself as the artistic director of major cultural events, such as the Mural Fest in Tirana (2018 and 2019) and the 167 Art Project in Lecce, active since 2017. The latter has become a not-to-be-missed annual event, enriching the 167 neighbourhood with new works and cultural activities that celebrate art as a tool for social regeneration.
With his work, Chekos’art redefines the boundaries of traditional art, weaving spaces, communities and stories into a timeless visual narrative, capable of inspiring and engaging anyone who encounters his works.
