English version:
Francesco Ferreri, known as Chekos’art, is a leading figure in contemporary urban art and one of the pioneers of stencil technique in Italy. Emerging from the underground graffiti scene of Milan, he has developed a distinctive and powerful visual language that illuminates streets across Italy and around the world.
Through his murals, Chekos’art explores themes of social contrast and collective memory, weaving together faces, emotions, and symbols in works that engage directly with local communities and speak to new generations. From Xiamen in China to Tirana in Albania, his interventions transform urban spaces into open-air galleries, enriched with pop references, tributes to great masters of the past, and messages with a universal resonance.
He is the co-founder of 167B Street, an urban art laboratory located in the heart of the 167 public housing district in Lecce, Italy. Through this space, the neighbourhood has evolved into a permanent creative laboratory, where hidden stories emerge through artistic interventions that reimagine the urban landscape and strengthen local identity.
Over the years, Chekos’art has taken part in numerous international urban art festivals and has also distinguished himself as an artistic director of significant cultural events, including the Mural Fest in Tirana (2018 and 2019) and the 167 Art Project in Lecce, active since 2017. The latter has become a key annual event, enriching the 167 district with new artworks and cultural activities while promoting art as a tool for social regeneration.
Through his work, Chekos’art redefines the boundaries of traditional art, interweaving spaces, communities, and stories into a timeless visual narrative capable of inspiring and engaging all who encounter it.
